“Saint Mary’s” is a psychological thriller / horror film drawing similarities to and inspiration from two iconic motion pictures, “The Shining” and “Rosemary’s Baby.”
Set in 1948 in the sleepy old mining town of Virginia City, Nevada, “Saint Mary’s” is a tale that delves into the souls of a number of characters who find themselves drawn to and trapped by the haunted hospital and asylum of Saint Mary’s.
When a car is stuck on a snowy road just outside the town of Virginia City, Norman, the father of two children and husband to Mary, trudges through the snow to a nearby building looking for help. He never should have left his car. Before he knows what is going on, Norman is fighting for his life and the life of his family as a
snowstorm overtakes the town. As he tries to break free from the clutches of Saint Mary’s’ evil, he begins to lose his mind. The nearby town of Virginia City gets involved. Led by the Sheriff and his Deputy, along with a few do-gooders at Max’s Saloon, the townsfolk attempt to prevent the cursed Saint Mary’s from harming the stranded family. The town pastor, Father Monague, joins in and the haunted past of the town and its people is slowly revealed.
“Saint Mary’s” is more than a story about a haunted place: It is the tale of a town haunted by its past, and a tale about a man and his wife tortured by their inner demons. In the tradition of classic Hitchcock suspense thrillers, “Saint Mary’s” is sure to keep audiences looking over their shoulders after they’ve left the theatre.
